In 1868 the Lodge was constituted, meeting in rooms above a shop, in Brook
Street Broughty Ferry, opposite the Royal Arch Bar. The first Right Worshipful Master
was Brother Robert Kidd.
Around 1884 meetings were suspended due to financial problems, but two years later
the Lodge re-opened in The Good Templers Halls, in Gray Street, still in Broughty
Ferry. In 1910 a motion was proposed to erect a Masonic Temple on a plot of land
in Brook Street and on the 17th of July, 1912 it was duly consecrated by the Provincial
Grand Lodge of Forfarshire. During the Second World War, the hall was requisitioned
by the Military authorities before being returned in 1946. For this duration meetings
were held in Whytocks Cafe in Gray Street
